Pastorie Leke, located in the village of Leke in Belgium, is a beautifully restored rectory with a rich history that dates back centuries. Originally serving as a residence for clergy, it stands as a classic example of Flemish architecture, combining both historical elements and traditional craftsmanship with contemporary touches achieved by recent restorations.
When the brothers Rabaut started renovating in 2020, they always aimed to honor the historical significance. The renovation became a family endeavor, with relatives contributing to the project. Sustainability was at the forefront, extending beyond renewable energy to include the use of solvent-free, ecological wood protection products from Rubio Monocoat.
The building is celebrated not only for its architectural features but also for its cultural significance in the local community. The versatile space includes both a living area with kitchen and bathroom and an event venue, suitable for private and professional gatherings such as meetings, workshops, weddings, and receptions.
This project showcases how non-protected cultural heritage can be revitalized, giving the building a new purpose while restoring its former glory. Some of the old floors even date back from the 18th century and are now once more protected for the future.
We are so proud to contribute to stories like these!
